Floral Paper Tablescape with Molly Sohr

Spring is almost upon us, and I'm definitely looking forward to a fresh start with this new season of entertaining. We will hopefully be celebrating life together in larger groups soon, but for now, we're keeping things intimate for this ladies floral arranging fete.

For this shoot, I teamed up again with my friend the uber-talented event planner and lifestyle blogger Molly Sohr. We wanted to put together something that would work for various spring events such as bridal showers, birthday luncheons, baby showers, etc. Let's start with the flowers shall we? As y'all know, I don't often arrange my own flowers- I like to delegate that to the pro's and order my arrangements. But, since Molly IS a pro, she showed me how to create very easy, but pretty, floral arrangements for the table. Even I could handle this "DIY" task. In fact, we probably had too much fun arranging flowers, and this would be a great activity to do with a small group of friends. Everyone can contribute their arrangement to the table and then take it home to enjoy after the gathering. Molly was kind enough to share her Top 5 Tips for DIY Floral Arranging, which you can find at the end of this post.

How darling is this tag from Kate Fabling Calligraphy that we tied onto this very stylish and affordable pair of Pink Floral Shears?!? Not only are the shears handy for making arrangements, but they can double as a favor for your guests. Once we finished arranging our small bud vases, we moved them to our fun paper party table.

With our centerpieces taken care of, the rest of this spring table could not have been easier to put together and style. We used Molly's coffee table on her porch as the "dining table," so no chairs were needed, just some comfy throw pillows scattered around as guest seating.

The designers at Sophistiplate certainly know how to make some of the prettiest paper party supplies out there. I love all their collections, but their Blush Bouquet Table Setting is one of my current favorites. The ruffled plates, napkins and cutlery are amazing quality, and the best part is that they are all disposable, so clean-up is a breeze! The Pink Classic Stripe Table Runner from Hester & Cook was the perfect table covering to start with, and we found these individual Champagne Sipper Cups from Paper Source. And if it's chilly outside on Molly's porch, guests can use a throw blanket and we can turn on the fireplace to keep everyone warm and cozy around the table. Covid-friendly entertaining is still important after all... Just hopefully not too much longer!

Molly's Top 5 Tips for DIY floral Arrangement at Home 

1.  MAKE A PLAN: before you go to the flower store make a plan of what vases to use for the table or area you are flowering. Have an idea of how many flowers you need to fill the vessels! 

2.  VARIETY: when you go into the flower shop try to choose at least 3 variations of stems. I love to mix soft flowers like ranunculus or sweet peas with textural stems like greenery or look for this limonium used for these bud vases, i feel like it adds romance! 

3.  VASES: vases are important to the way your arrangement turns out. If you won't want to buy a ton of flowers look for a vase with a smaller opening so it takes less flowers to fill but still looks full! 

4.  CUT THEM PROPERLY: always cut the flowers at an angle, this allows for them to drink the water properly. 

5.  HAVE FUN: to me, arranging flowers is a form of therapy. Turn on some music, invite some friends over and have fun with it! ENJOY the process!
