Palm Beach Tablescape 2019

I love entertaining in the summer. Alfresco dining, fresh flowers and countless options for colorful tabletop decor that set the mood for joyful gatherings with family and friends. So when the "entertaining dream team," which includes yours truly, Paige Minear and Caroline Hernandez, decided to head to Palm Beach for our next "Designing Women Getaway" (this is the best way I know how to sum up what we are now doing together- ha), I was over-the-moon excited. I've visited Palm Beach once before about 4 years ago for my "baby-moon" with Paul, and we had a blast (well, as much fun as you can have 8 months pregnant in the middle of summer- ha). I'll share more about both trips and where we ate, shopped, and all that we did in my Palm Beach Girls' Trip Guide (coming soon), but for now, let's focus on one of them main reasons for my recent trip there- our tablescape.

On our last girls' trip, the three of us collaborated on a tablescape that was a "nod" to the south and the city we visited, Charleston. So for Palm Beach, we wanted to do the same, and reference "old Palm Beach chic" for our tabletop decor. I already love everything style-wise that Palm Beach is typically known for: fabulous prints, rattan, bold colors, bamboo and of course chinoiserie, so the design for our table was going to be a pleasure for me to source and research. And thankfully, Paige is very familiar with everything Palm Beach related (having lived near there for a period of time), and with her steering our design ship (pardon the nautical pun) we pulled together a stunning seaside chic table.

Let's chat about some of the details now, shall we? Paige already owned vintage pink and green chinoiserie china, that we all loved and decided to use as inspiration for the design- specifically the colors. We then pulled together some of our favorite pieces (all listed below) for a layered look that is fresh, fun, approachable but still elegant- just like Palm Beach.

The table decor is a mixture of high and low-cost pieces, which for me is often how my tablescapes come together. For example, the bamboo dinner plates are actually melamine from Ballard Designs, and are currently on sale. Paige provided the rattan charger plates that she purchased from Pottery Barn years ago, but a current and affordable alternate option is listed below and here. The block print tablecloth from India Amory, and the Matouk napkins from Horchow are more expensive pieces, but they are timeless and will be used for years to come. If you don't want to invest in full sets of new china for every event you host, you can always purchase accent pieces like we did here with the inclusion of Tory Burch Lettuce Ware Canape Plates. We used the darling small plates to hold custom cookies for each guest that were made to look like Lilly Pulitzer shift dresses by the Highland Park Pie Lady. The devil is in the details y'all, and who doesn't love a Lilly Pulitzer detail, especially in Palm Beach!

Onto the paper products... Caroline, of Sweet Caroline Designs, is clearly a master designer of one-of-a-kind paper goods. She did her own research on Palm Beach style and then merged her ideas with the items we pulled for our tablescape so that it all coordinated perfectly. As you can see, the results are fun, chic and beyond fabulous. I mean, who doesn't love monkeys, palm leaves and stripes?!? In addition to invitation and menu options which were used on our table, Caroline created coordinating stationery, thank you notes and favor tag options. The good news for you, is that you can customize and purchase all these Palm-Beach inspired paper products from her website, and they are ALL. SO. GOOD. You can shop these goodies and more here.
