Blue and White Fall Tablescape 2019
Even in the fall, blue and white is always right. When I discovered the hand-painted blue and white chinoiserie pumpkins from For Pete’s Sake Pottery, I just about lost my mind. Susan, hand paints countless decor pieces, but with my mind set on fall-entertaining, I knew I had to have as many of her blue and white pumpkins as I could get my hands on.
I love that her pieces have a modern twist to them and are more whimsical than formal. I chose a mix of her different scenes as well as some of her blue and white plaid pumpkins to create a nice selection of coordinating pieces. They can be styled in countless ways, but for this shoot, I wanted to use them as a centerpiece for our dining table. Another great thing is that you can order the pumpkins in other color schemes, so if blue and white isn't your cup of tea, then you can order them in black and white, green and white, etc. My girl, Cristin Cooper, who I collaborated with on this tablescape, ordered them in black and white, and I can't wait to see what she does with those!
With the pumpkins secured, it was easy for me to pick out china to use on the table. I have two sets of everyday china that I use at home, and one style is blue and white Spode. After the summer season, this china rarely gets used, so I was thrilled to be able to pull it out again and use it for the fall. I was also thrilled to be able to use my blue and white Custom Monogrammed Napkins from The Preppy Stitch. These napkins were made to use in my dining room, but they worked perfectly on this table as well. The charger plates, flatware and glassware is all rented from Please Be Seated, but you can also purchase similar blue glassware Here. In addition to the larger foam pumpkins (which I can store and use for years to come), I also ordered the mini ceramic pumpkins from For Pete's Sake Pottery to use at every place setting. When I’m not using them on a dining table, I plan to pile them up in a white bowl to display them as decor in my home. The final touch for each place setting is the blue and white Ginger Jar Foldover Place Cards from WH Hostess that coordinate perfectly with the rest of the table. You can find their additional coordinating paper table products, such as Paper Ginger Jar Placemats Here.
Since I was working with the fabulous fellow-delegator, Cristin Cooper, I left the floral decisions up to her. We wanted there to be a pop of orange in the flowers, but we decided to keep things simple since there was already so much going on with all the blue and white on the table. She arranged the orange blooms (all the same flower for a more modern look), that we picked-up from a local floral wholesaler in Nashville, in single bud vases down the center of the table. She also added in some small orange faux pumpkins that we used on another tablescape as well, for just a bit more color. It was just the right amount of orange to help balance out all the blue and white.
Y'all know I love a good "Dress to the Decor" moment, so when I found this Blue and White Wrap Midi Dress from Draper James, I had to have it. It's the perfect dress to transition to the fall, and it's now one of the most flattering dresses I own. I love how every detail of this tablescape is coordinated, from my dress to the ADORABLY CHIC Blue and White Pumpkin Stir Sticks from Acrylic Sticks. Don't mind me... I'll just be over here stirring up a cocktail while staring at one of my favorite fall table designs of all time!
